The Ooni of Ife has announced the freedom for his offended Olori, Wuraola after Benin Elders returned her pride price.
As per TheBossNewspaper, the former wife of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Wuraola can remarry if she wishes, as the standard bride price paid by the revered ruler was returned completely from the elders of Queen Zaynab's Family in Benin City.
As indicated by a source in Benin, the Ooni was at first hesitant to collect bride price but was convinced by the Elders as a method for shutting the dubious marriage and division.
"She's free now, she's free… ," the Ooni was quoted to have shouted afterwards.
The Elders had sued for amicable settlement rather than a harsh separation. The two families seemed relieved about this last dispossession of the marriage that for less than two years.
According to a Yoruba source, it was basic that the bride price is returned even as it is only a token, including that it holds critical esteem and significance according to tradition.
“When a bride price is returned, the man no longer have ties or right over the woman in question, and they can only see themselves afterwards as friends if they so desire,” the Yoruba source said.
