According to Vanguard The World Bank Task Team Leader, Mr. Ikechu-kwu Nweje, yesterday, urged Ekiti State House of Assembly to ensure that an effective procurement system was put in place to ensure accountability.
Nweje made the call during a visit to the state House of Assembly in Ado Ekiti, for the mid-term project review of the World Bank Public Sector Governance Reform and Development Project.
Nweje said the aim was to reduce corruption usually associated with effective utilization of public funds and the reduction by 80 percent of the workload of Houses of Assembly.
Earlier, the Speaker, Mr. Kola Oluwawole, reiterated the commit-ment of the Assembly to ensuring accountability in the handling of public finance.
